They are relatively unlikely to exercise every day, but on exercise days they are among the more likely segments to cycle and participate in team sports. There is a clear desire for many in this group to increase their levels of physical activity. Very few said the reason preventing them from increasing their physical activity was a lack of interest; more than two thirds said the reason was a lack of time.
Of all segments, they are the most likely to engage in physical activity to improve their physical appearance. Most of this group’s key motivation to improve their health is to feel better. This group has a healthy diet, having the best overall diet score. They are one of the more likely groups to eat lots of fruit and veg. They are the second most likely segment to be vegetarian, but are also partial to a bit of chicken and fish relative to other segments. Those who are into dieting are over-represented by fasters.
There is some evidence this group struggles with motivation. Over half cite motivation as the biggest challenge to making changes to their health and wellbeing, and they are the most disinclined to cook of all the segments. They are one of the most likely groups to want to improve their mental health.
They tend to have contrarian sports tastes. They are disinclined to like popular sports such as football, rugby and cricket.
